Better boating facilities

More activities, attractions and events for locals and visitors

What we’ll do

A Marshall Liberal Government will ensure boating infrastructure projects are not put on hold.

We will also reduce the co-contribution needed by communities to apply for access to the boating facilities fund. As a result, councils or local organisations will need to deliver a minimum of 20 percent of the total cost of a project, rather than the current 50 percent.

Reducing the co-contribution will assist local communities in securing more money for establishing and improving boating facilities in our coastal and inland waters.

Why we’re doing it

South Australia is home to fantastic metropolitan and regional boating destinations but we need to ensure that facilities are first-class for future generations to enjoy.

The State Government collects a boating facilities levy paid on top of every registration, inspection or survey of recreational boating vessels in South Australia with this fund available for establishing and improving South Australia’s boating facilities.

But Labor has a history of leaving the collected levy unspent and delaying investment in boating facilities.

South Australian boat users pay the levy every year and deserve better facilities and that’s why a Marshall Liberal Government will invest in our boating infrastructure.
