A Marshall Liberal Government will attract more international and domestic conventions to South Australia which will inject $1 billion into our economy and create/support 8,000 jobs.
Specifically, we will invest $5 million to deliver the Adelaide Convention Bureau’s (ACB) Billion Dollar Benefit plan which will establish representation in Asia, better target conventions showcasing South Australia’s industry strengths and encourage convention delegates to ‘linger longer’.
The ‘Linger Longer’ initiative will offer tourism packages to get visitors beyond the Adelaide CBD and into our regions where they will spend more money and support even more jobs.
This leverages our commitment to invest $40 million in the Events Bid Fund to attract more events and conventions to South Australia.
The tourism industry will be a key job creator for South Australians going forward and has been identified as a super growth industry over the next 20 years.
We know that in South Australia convention delegates spend $632 per day which is three times more than the average visitor, so it’s a lucrative and high yielding demographic that will support thousands of South Australian jobs.
Quite simply, more visitors to South Australia means more dollars coming into our economy and more local jobs.
That’s why we will invest in increasing the number of visitors and convention delegates to South Australia.
