We are committed to productive infrastructure
A Marshall Liberal Government will improve traffic flow by expanding the number of intersections in the metropolitan area where motorists can turn left at a red traffic light.
We will undertake a comprehensive audit of intersections to identify suitable locations to expand turn left on red signage.
Intersections where the road speed is 60 km/hr or lower will be assessed for safety against Australian Standard requirements and an education campaign to make motorists, cyclists and pedestrians aware of the expanded use of this rule will be an integral part of the program.
Productivity and liveability are improved when our transport infrastructure allows us to move from place to place in a trouble-free manner.
Often cars are stopped unnecessarily at a red light, wishing to turn left when the intersection is clear and it is safe to do so. This can be frustrating for motorists, needlessly impede traffic flow and increase fuel costs and engine emissions.
That’s why we will make this simple change to tackle road congestion, keep traffic flowing and get you home sooner.
