Re-instating police station opening hours

What we’re doing

A Marshall Liberal Government will enhance community safety and access to police by extending police station opening hours at Norwood, Henley and Glenelg Police Stations after the Weatherill Labor Government cut them in 2016.

Norwood

We will ensure Norwood Police Station will be open from 8.00 am until 9.00 pm, 7 days a week after the Labor Government cut its hours to 9.00 am – 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Henley

We will ensure Henley Police Station will be open from 8.00 am until 11.00 pm, 7 days a week after the Labor Government cut its hours to 9.00 am – 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Glenelg

We will ensure more local police services by increasing the opening hours of the Glenelg Police Station during peak times to ensure the station is open when it is needed.

Why we’re doing it

The Weatherill Labor Government has closed nine police stations since the last election and slashed opening hours at many others across the state.

The number of police stations that are open 24-hours has been drastically reduced, while stations that were previously open from 7.30 am to 11 pm, 7 days a week are now only open 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

Our community deserves a strong police presence which includes a physical shop front which is open beyond daytime hours.

That’s why we will improve community safety by extending police station opening hours at Norwood, Henley and Glenelg.
