Slashing ESL bills

What we’ll do

A Marshall Liberal Government will begin our assault on the rising cost of living fuelled by Labor’s tax rises by reducing the Emergency Services Levy (ESL) to its previous level.

This cut will reduce the annual ESL bill for the average household by 50%.

Why we’re doing it

In 2014, the Weatherill Government imposed a massive tax increase on family homes, businesses, farms, churches, community organisations, independent schools and many other groups via an increase to the ESL.

The impact has cascaded through the entire economy and community – taking an extra $90 million a year out of the pockets of South Australian taxpayers.

This is placing increasing pressure on household budgets and strangling our economy and that’s why a Marshall Liberal Government will slash the ESL immediately so that you will benefit from 1 July 2018.
